Reviews
From clients across KL
"The Fabric of Space report surprised me — I expected a mood board, and instead received something closer to a document about how my apartment actually works and what it's missing. That clarity made every subsequent decision easier. The whole process felt more like a thoughtful conversation than a design transaction."

"We had engaged a designer previously who handed off the project to a junior midway through. With Woven Yard, Suraya was present from the consultation through to the day they finished styling. The 3D visualisation was genuinely useful — we could see how the room would look before spending a single ringgit on furniture. I appreciated the honesty about budget too."

"The coordination service is worth every ringgit if you've dealt with a renovation before. Arif was across all the details — when the contractor tried to substitute a material without asking, he caught it on the site visit and had it resolved before I even knew. The final space looked exactly as designed. The only reason for four stars is that the timeline ran two weeks beyond estimate, though they communicated about it early."

"I run a small batik studio in Chow Kit and wanted the space to reflect the craft without becoming a cliché. Suraya understood that distinction immediately — the result is commercial but not cold, referencing the tradition without leaning on costume or pastiche. Several suppliers have commented on the space unprompted, which is a good sign."

"We started with the consultation because we weren't sure how far we wanted to go. The written report gave us exactly the language to talk about our own home — things we'd felt but hadn't articulated. We ended up going through all three services. The space now has a coherence it didn't before, and it still feels like ours."

"The design development process was detailed and well-managed — Nadia's visualisations made the revision conversations much more productive than I expected. My main piece of feedback would be that the specification document could be easier to navigate for someone without a construction background, but it was comprehensive and Arif was always available to explain."

Case Studies
Three projects, three approaches
Case Study 01 — Residential
A terrace house in Taman Desa: bringing the inside out
Challenge
A 1980s terrace house with compartmentalised rooms and very little natural light reaching the interior. The owners wanted to feel more connected to the garden without undertaking a full extension.
Approach
We redesigned the ground floor spatial flow to open the kitchen and dining areas toward the back garden, selected materials in warm ochres and earthy terracottas that connect with the outdoor planting, and introduced layered lighting to address the internal darkness.
Outcome
The owners report spending significantly more time in the space. Natural light now reaches the central dining area throughout the afternoon. The renovation was completed within budget and ten days of the agreed timeline.
"The space felt entirely different within the first afternoon — lighter, calmer, and much more connected to the garden we'd neglected for years." — Mr. and Mrs. Tan, Taman Desa
Case Study 02 — Commercial
A textile boutique in Brickfields: identity without pastiche
Challenge
A handcraft boutique in Brickfields wanted to express its Malaysian identity clearly — but the owner was concerned the space would end up feeling either touristy or generic. They had seen too many similar shops that missed the balance.
Approach
We drew from batik resist-dyeing processes as a structural reference — not as surface decoration — using the logic of layered colour and masked pattern in the spatial planning and material selection. Local artisans were sourced for several custom joinery pieces.
Outcome
The boutique opened in October 2024. The owner reports a notable increase in dwell time — customers spending longer in the space — and several wholesale buyers have asked about the interior designer. The project was featured in an industry publication in March 2025.
"Woven Yard understood what we were trying to say better than we could articulate it ourselves. The space feels rooted." — Hannah Yusof, boutique owner
Case Study 03 — Residential
A new apartment in Bukit Bintang: starting from scratch without losing character
Challenge
A young professional couple purchasing their first home — a new-build apartment in Bukit Bintang — wanted the space to feel personal from the start, not generic. They had strong opinions about comfort but limited experience with the design process.
Approach
We began with the consultation to establish a clear brief, then moved into design development. The palette drew from natural Malaysian fibres — rattan, woven grass matting, linen — combined with a disciplined use of indigo and warm ochre. The specification document allowed the couple to manage the renovation themselves with confidence.
Outcome
The renovation was completed in 10 weeks. The couple handled the coordination themselves using our specification document and reported no major deviations. They have since referred two colleagues to Woven Yard.
"We were a bit lost at first. The consultation gave us a vocabulary — and the specification document meant we could actually manage the contractor ourselves without second-guessing every decision." — Zara & Naim
