Why Woven Yard
What a design practice should actually do for you
A good interior designer doesn't just make spaces look well — they make them work, hold meaning, and remain right for years. Here's what we bring to that.

Core advantages of working with us
From the first consultation to the final styling, working with Woven Yard means clear communication, cultural depth, and a practice that stays attentive throughout.
Malaysian Cultural Grounding
Batik craft, tropical spatial logic, and the visual language of KL inform our work — not just international trend boards.
Direct Designer Access
You work with the design lead throughout — not handed to junior staff partway through your project.
Written at Every Phase
Observations, specification documents, revision notes — everything is recorded so nothing is lost.
Honest Timelines
We state realistic durations upfront and flag changes as soon as they arise — no vague promises.
Clear Scope Boundaries
We say clearly what is and isn't included — and what clients should budget separately for materials and trades.
Residential & Cultural Commercial
We're equally at home in a KL apartment or a boutique commercial space where identity and warmth matter.
Nine years of culturally aware design practice
Woven Yard has been operating in KL since 2016, with over 130 projects across residential and cultural commercial categories. That depth of experience means we've seen most of the situations a Malaysian interior project can produce — and we know how to respond to them without creating drama for the client.

Our Process
- 1
Site visit & listening
We spend time in your space before making any design decisions.
- 2
Written observations
A structured document capturing spatial quality, lifestyle fit, and reference directions.
- 3
Design development
Spatial planning, material curation, visualisation, and specification — all woven together.
- 4
Coordination & completion
Managing trades and sourcing through to final styling and sign-off.
A clear sequence from first conversation to final arrangement
Each of our three services maps to a distinct phase of the design process. You can engage us for one phase or all three — depending on how much support you want, and at which stage.
We produce written documentation at each stage, so there's always a record of what was decided, why, and what comes next. Nothing depends on memory or verbal agreement alone.
See the design before anything is built
Our Design Development service includes 3D visualisation — detailed rendered views of the proposed interior that help clients understand how materials, light, and furniture will interact in the actual space. This is not a marketing tool — it's a working document for decision-making.
- Full specification document for contractor use
- Material boards with actual samples where relevant
- Two revision sessions included in the fee
3D Visualisation
Detailed rendered views of your interior before work begins.
Spatial Planning
Floor plan and layout developed for how you actually live or work.
Colour & Material Curation
Every material selected for longevity, fit, and coherence within the whole.
Client Experience
Regular updates without chasing
We share progress at each phase transition — you won't need to ask where things stand.
No handoffs mid-project
The same designer who handles your consultation is the one who sees the work through.
Privacy as standard
We do not share project imagery or details without written consent — your home stays yours.
Studio hours that work
Weekday and Saturday availability — because not every conversation can happen at 9am on a Tuesday.
A practice that stays attentive throughout
Interior design projects can go quiet in the middle — weeks pass, and the client is left wondering what's happening. We try to build in the opposite of that: regular, structured communication at every phase so you always know where things stand and what's coming next.
We keep our annual project load at a manageable level so that every client receives attentive service rather than fitting into a high-volume production line.
Transparent fees, no hidden surprises
Our service fees are fixed at the rates published: MYR 450 for consultation, MYR 3,300 for design development, and MYR 1,700 for project coordination. These are professional fees only — separate from the cost of materials, furniture, and contractor work, which varies by project.
During the consultation, we will give you a realistic estimate of what your total project budget should look like — so you can make an informed decision before committing to the full design process.

Distinctive Features
What you won't find elsewhere
The Fabric of Space Report
A written document that articulates the spatial character of your home or commercial space — not a mood board, but a thoughtful reading of what's already there and what it could become. This is our starting point, and many clients find it valuable on its own.
Local Material Knowledge
We have spent years building relationships with local suppliers, craftspeople, and fabric studios in the Klang Valley. This means access to materials that aren't on the standard specification lists — and an understanding of how they perform in KL's humid climate.
Integrated Service Pathway
Our three services are designed to connect — a client can begin with a consultation, progress to design development, and continue into coordination, with continuity of knowledge and relationship throughout. Or stop at any stage.
Respect for What You Already Have
We don't start from the assumption that everything needs replacing. Family pieces, inherited furniture, meaningful objects — these are often the best things in a space, and our design builds around them rather than over them.
