Why Woven Yard

A different kind of design practice

We take the time to understand a space before proposing how it might change — and we consider Malaysian context not as decoration, but as a guiding thread.

Rooted in Malaysian Character

Our references reach into batik craft, kampung spatial logic, and the layered texture of Malaysian daily life — not just international trend boards.

Clear Communication Throughout

Every phase of work comes with written documentation — so you always know where the project stands and what decisions are still ahead.

Considered Material Choices

We select materials for their longevity, feel, and fit within the whole — not for their trend value or margin. Natural textiles and local finishes feature regularly.

One Point of Contact

You work directly with our design lead from consultation through completion — no handoffs to junior staff partway through your project.

Honest Timelines

We state realistic durations upfront and flag any changes as soon as they arise — because your schedule matters as much as the design outcome.

Residential & Cultural Commercial

We work comfortably across home and cultural commercial interiors — boutiques, studios, F&B spaces — where a sense of identity and warmth matters.

Ready When You Are

Start with a conversation about your space

No pressure, no templates. Just a thoughtful look at what your space could become and how we might help get it there.

Common Questions

Questions we hear often

Where do you work — only Kuala Lumpur?

Our base is in Taman Seputeh, KL, and most of our projects are within the Klang Valley. We do consider work in Selangor and Putrajaya on a case-by-case basis — reach out and we'll let you know whether the travel fits within the scope.

What is the difference between Design Development and Weaving It Together?

Design Development produces a complete design package — drawings, material selections, 3D visualisations — but the coordination of trades and procurement is handled by you. Weaving It Together picks up where the design ends: we manage contractors, source materials, conduct site visits, and handle the final styling. Many clients do both as a combined engagement.

How long does a typical project take?

The Fabric of Space consultation delivers within a week. Design Development takes 6–10 weeks depending on the complexity of the space. Coordination runs 8–14 weeks from the start of renovation through to final styling. We'll discuss your timeline during the consultation and set realistic expectations from the start.

Are the quoted prices fixed, or can costs change?

Our service fees are fixed as quoted. Costs related to materials, furniture, and contractor work are separate from our fees and will depend on the choices made during the design process. We'll give you a realistic material budget estimate during the consultation so there are no surprises later on.

Do I need to have a renovation planned before contacting you?

Not at all. Many clients come to us while they're still figuring out what they want. The Fabric of Space consultation is a good first step — it helps clarify the scope and direction before any commitments are made about renovation or major purchases.

Can I bring my own furniture or material preferences?

Of course. We often work with pieces a client already owns or intends to keep. Our role is to create a coherent whole — so whether that means designing around a family heirloom or sourcing everything new, we adapt to what makes sense for your space and your situation.
